About Us

The World Language Department at Palatine High School has been around for over 30 years.  At one point English as a Second Language was part of "Foreign Language" today known as World Language.  Regardless of name change or added services and languages for our students and the Palatine Community, Palatine High School has continued to embrace change, student interest, and cultural awareness.  Our department serves as one vehicle to students education.  We are here as an elective course because students seek for various reasons the wanting to learn or enhance their language or culture.  As part of our goal, we aim to bring students language opportunities and cultural experiences they might otherwise not have without our coursework, clubs, and activities.

Our department has 11 faculty members certified and ready to help engage students into the world of languages.  To have a better understanding of why we are so special and experts in linguistics know that half of our department was born and raised in a foreign country.  Everyone has traveled to various parts of the world and has brought with them a cultural perspective that thrive in our classrooms.  Besides our energetic personalities, all of us continue to travel and learn something new in order to bring back to our classrooms.  On an average in the last 20 years we have had 3 exchange and or summer trips to various countries.  This year we are looking at taking 3 summer trips in June to Germany, France and Spain.  To know more about our faculty please click on the teacher links above to know each of our faculty.
