Welcome to PHS!

Welcome • Bienvenidos • Bienvenue • Willkommen • 歡迎光臨 • خوشآمديد • Witamy

You are officially a part of our amazing community of Palatine Pirates! We are so glad you are here and that you are considering making languages a part of your high school experience.

Why be a part of our World Language program?

When you enroll in our World Language program, you become part of a community of passionate, fun, and experienced teachers who are excited to share their love of language and culture with you! Additionally, research has shown that a study of a foreign language is a discipline in itself which helps students better understand their own language and enables them to score better on ACT and SAT tests.

Explore the grid below to learn about many more ways that language can enrich your life.

BUSTED! Myths & Misconceptions About Language Learning

Are you still unsure about whether or not you should study a language? Perhaps you're thinking...

  • "I don't need to learn another language - everybody speaks English."

  • "Two words: Google Translate."

  • "Language classes are boring."  (Gasp!)

  • "I already speak computer programing... Learning another language
isn't relevant for my career interest."

  • "It's too late to learn a language. Plus I'm bad at it!"

To all that, we must channel our inner-Dwight and say, "FALSE."
