Spanish became a passion of mine ever since I took my first class in high school. I studied Spanish at Illinois State University and spent two semesters traveling abroad to Taxco, Mexico and Granada, Spain. After graduation, I had the opportunity to play soccer at the College of Lake County, during which I studied ESL and got involved in the educational publishing field. Getting back into teaching, I began subbing throughout District 211 and gained experience as an ESL Teacher Assistant and summer school ESL Teacher at Schaumburg High School. One opportunity led to another, and I am now a part of a wonderful World Language Department at Palatine High School, getting back to what I’m most passionate about! I continued my own professional learning at UIC, completing my Masters in the Teaching of Spanish with a concentration in the teaching of Heritage Speakers.

Other than teaching Spanish, I am the Foreign Exchange Club Sponsor and a girls’ soccer coach at PHS. I love traveling! One of the coolest experiences I’ve had was building a house in Mexico and roasting marshmallows on a volcano in Guatemala. Most recently I traveled to Ecuador with students, and I loved it so much that I went back with my husband for our honeymoon! I have always enjoyed learning more about the language and culture I get to teach every day. I also really love sports, especially watching my dear Chicago Blackhawks. I play indoor soccer and started playing ice hockey a few years ago, too, which has been so much fun and a learning experience. :) I have an adorable family pup and love spending time with my husband, my family, and friends.
