Lizbeth Arreola

¡Hola Piratas! My name is Mrs. Arreola. I am thrilled to be back in my old stomping grounds (class of ‘12).

I was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and came to the U.S when I was six years old. During my time at PHS I was involved in Project Excel, Palatine’s Promise, National  Honors Society, and was a wrestling manager. At an early age I realized I wanted to become a teacher and I had the opportunity to take internship classes here at PHS. I was  a recipient of  the Golden Apple Scholarship my senior year, and that scholarship gave me the opportunity to continue with my studies at Eastern Illinois University. I graduated from EIU in 2016 with my Bachelors in Spanish with a teaching certification and a minor in Latin American Studies. In 2019, I started working on my masters in the Spanish Language and Culture through the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain.

After EIU, I started my teaching career at Wheeling High School and I quickly realized how much I loved being in the classroom. I love seeing students embrace their Latino heritage. Now that I am finally back, I am excited to work with the PHS community and  give back to the school that gave so much to me as a student.

I love to travel, and most recently I visited Spain. I have also traveled to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Portugal, and various parts of Mexico. One of my goals in life is to visit all of the 21 Spanish speaking countries!
