Laurie Van Gorp
I graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in French and Journalism. During my time at Iowa, I spent the summer after my junior year in France. After graduation, I spent a year living in a small, coastal town named Vannes in western France. Through a program organized by the French Consulate, I was able to teach English there to both middle school and high school students.
When I returned from Vannes, I began working on my Master's Degree in Education and was lucky enough to be placed at Palatine High School for my student teaching assignment. The following year, in 2003, I began teaching at Palatine and taught levels 2,3,4 and 5 over the course of the next seven years. I have been home with my two children, Cate (8) and Timmy (6), for the past 6 years and I am thrilled to be back at Palatine this year to teach French 1 and French 3!
